"People don’t just want to lose weight or tone up anymore—they care about their health"
Interview with Anna Livitt
Ink.com interviewed Anna Livitt, founder of Lure Studio in Miami, to learn how she is redefining fitness. Our correspondent, John Carter, discovered how Anna’s vision blends wellness, community, and family values.
J: How did the studio come about?
A: The idea for the studio came from my own professional journey. I
graduated from the New York Film Academy and worked in video
production for several years, shooting all sorts of projects. At one point,
I got a project to shoot an ad for a chain of yoga studios, and it
completely captivated me. As we were filming, I couldn’t help but
admire the atmosphere and philosophy surrounding the studios.
Over time, I realized I wasn’t enjoying large gyms and traditional fitness
formats anymore. Although I’ve been passionate about fitness since
school, it was at this point that I redefined my relationship with exercise.
I realized I wasn’t working out just for a better body. I felt the world
shift—people were leaning more towards cozy, intimate spaces. Small
studios where every detail showed care became the new trend. That
feeling and inspiration became the foundation of my studio.
J: How did you find the perfect location?
A: I really wanted the studio to be in the heart of the city, but not in a
business district. I found that the Design District and Wynwood were
perfect. The energy here is amazing, and the area is always buzzing with
design events and art happenings. It feels alive.
Another big factor for me was parking. As the city grows, parking spots
are shrinking, so that was a must. And when I decided to include a kids'
space, I added the requirement for a gated area.
In the end, I found a spot that met all my "perfectionist" requirements!
J: How did the idea of combining workouts for moms and kids
come to life?
A: I totally understand how challenging it is for moms to find a place where
they can work out while their kids are taken care of. Moms want to work
out, catch up with friends, but also want their kids to be doing something
active and healthy, not staring at screens all day.
At our studio, it’s all about convenience! Moms can take an aerial class
while their kids are happily dancing or doing acrobatics in the next
room. It’s a great way to develop healthy habits from a young age. Kids
become more communicative, develop good posture, and, most
importantly, they learn to enjoy life!
I still remember my own dance classes as a kid. They were my favorite
part of childhood! This kind of activity can become a shared hobby
between a mom and her child—something they’ll look back on with
warmth when they grow up.
J: What challenges did you face when starting your business?
A: In the beginning, the business felt like a Disneyland experience—
everything was new and exciting. But I quickly realized that despite my
degree in business management, I was lacking in real-life experience. I struggled to feel like I had the authority to be a leader, make decisions, and stick to them. Over time, I learned that it’s just a normal part of the job, and there’s no need to feel self-conscious about it.
Another lesson I learned: don’t delay marketing! I spent way too much
time trying to perfect every little detail, thinking I had to make the
project “perfect” before launching. Now, my advice is: just launch, even
if it’s not 100% ready. Start creating content, set up targeted ads, connect
with influencers, and network with neighbors. It’s better to start than to
waste time.
